In a thrilling encounter on May 29, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) led by the legendary MS Dhoni clinched their fifth IPL title by defeating the Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets, courtesy of the DLS method, in the IPL 2023 Final.
One of the standout performers in the final was Ravindra Jadeja, who showcased his exceptional batting skills and played a pivotal role in CSK’s remarkable comeback. His heroics helped propel the team to their fifth championship, thereby equaling the record previously held by the Mumbai Indians (MI).

Sisanda Magala
A South African spinner, was brought into the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad as a replacement for Kyle Jamieson for the IPL 2023 season. Jamieson had to withdraw from the tournament due to an injury. Despite having extensive experience in franchise cricket, Magala didn’t get many opportunities in the CSK team. He featured in just two games, taking one wicket at an economy rate of 8.50.
Ben Stokes
The talented English all-rounder known for his heroics in the 2019 World Cup, was signed by CSK for his exceptional all-round skills and captaincy qualities. However, he had a limited role in this season’s IPL, appearing in only five games.
Kyle Jamieson
The New Zealand pacer was an expensive buy for CSK at one crore. Known for his excellent pace and ability to be a devastating death bowler, Jamieson has struggled with recurring ailments in recent years. Unfortunately, he couldn’t play a single match in the IPL 2023 season due to a back injury that requires surgery.
Simarjeet Singh
An uncapped Indian cricketer who represents Delhi in domestic cricket was purchased by CSK in the 2022 IPL auction. Despite being a part of the squad, he didn’t get an opportunity to feature in any matches during this season.
Shaikh Rasheed
Another uncapped Indian player made his first-class debut for Andhra Pradesh in the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy. He was also selected as the vice-captain of India’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup side in 2022.
